Folk artist Briana Kaufmann's kitchen is a whirlwind of activity. It is the place of emergence for a new pantheon of unusual beings. Spoons and forks are the stuff of most women's lives, linking them traditionally to the domestic spheres, to food, to feeding, to care taking. Here is where Briana implements change. The ordinary become extraordinary. Basic familiar objects become base materials for recreation. Kitchen utensils become new symbols of mystic nourishment and Briana, herself, is evidence of women's creative and transformative powers. The process of recycling, coupled with the capacity to re-envision her world, has blown open a distinct pathway for feminist artist, Briana Kaufmann.
